Happy Holidays

 It's the season and the time of giving and being thankful.

We have battled a year that we will hardly forget. We've ventured through a storm we couldn't predict.

We struggled, cried, mourned at a point that we forgot what sadness is, as we got used to this feeling.

This might not seem the time to celebrate. And yet, I believe that there isn't a year in which we should celebrate more than this wicked 2020.

While being distant from each other, we are learning back again what it means to truly embrace this season. We have discovered once more the true value of affection, and the significance of cherishing those we hold dear, not through a monetary exchange, but by letting them know that no matter what, we will be there.

But I want to, first and foremost, be thankful, to each of you.

As for the majority of us, the outbreak of Covid pandemic has had a huge impact in my life. As some already knew, I had a store in Real Life, that I was forced to close in April because of Coronavirus needed restrictions. Harshlands became my full time job (it's quite hard to find a RL-based job where I live nowadays), and while commitment kept me excited, that came with a cost, with a luggage of stress and fear for the future. 

And so I want to thank you, for supporting Harshlands, especially in this time where we might easily be led to believe that non-primary needs seem to hold no value. I thank you for dedicating your time to my creations. They're made with my heart, and each word, feedback, suggestion, is a treasured blessing that I will keep. Second Life community is an amazing one. We stood strong and united in a time in which we could have been torn apart. We all understood the value of this fantastic platform. 

Second Life became the Real Life we wished for. And it brought us (and still brings us!) the peace we are longing for.

But since it is also the season of giving, I would like to remind you that the Giving Circle is ready for you. Many designer friends (friends, before designers) have teamed up to show everyone of you, how important you are. In our regions we have set up a Giving Circle filled with gifts for you. Please make sure to grab them, and visit each Landmark in it, because there may be even more gifts in their locations.

From the bottom of my heart, whether you will be celebrating Christmas, Yule, Saturnalia, Halloween (it's always Halloween, we know it), or if you are being thankful for what life will bring, Happy Holidays. And thank you for such a weird, twisted, but nevertheless incredible year.

Saturnalia is open!

 Hello everyone,

the wonderful Saturnalia event is now open, celebrating the pagan origins of Christmas, and everything Yule-related.

For this event I have prepared something that could fit the general atmosphere and landscape:

The new Fir Trees are animated trees (they also come as static) that come in three shapes: two medium-sized and one giant-sized with low LOD (therefore lower i prims, but Object Details set at maximum would be advised for optimal long distances render).

In addition to multiple shape, they also come in four textures, to properly blend in your landscape: whether it's a snowy forest or a forsaken tundra, there's a suitable variariation.

As a special Saturnalia-only promotion, purchasing the Fir Trees will gift you a copy of the mesh Falling Snow, a last year release that is displayed at the Saturnalia Booth.

 It's that time fo the year again!

It might have begun few days later than ordinary, but our traditional Christmas Hunt is finally ready to welcome all the adventurers.

Redeux is open

Hello everyone,

the last 2020 round of Redeux is finally open! 

During these last 48 hours we had to face log in problems, scripts faulty communication, unusable vendors...I guess we had to end this cursed year with a proper bang!

So, hoping everything will go smooth, here's Redeux exclsuive for this months!

Christmas Memories Gacha Set - A multi event gacha set

 Hello everyone,

I am so happy to introduce you to a brand new, and very unique gacha set. It is called Christmas Memories and it's made of many decorations and pieces of furniture, not only to deck the halls, but also your whole home!

Swank December Round

 Hello everyone,

the last 2020 round of Swank has just begun, and I've decided to prepare something I've been asked about quite some time!

I've always wanted to make a bridge, and many times I have been asked if I ever had this intention. Well...better late than never!

SL Christmas Expo is now open!

 It's the most wonderful time of Second Life!

December has arrived, and the grid is turning white, snowy and merry. With that it comes the annual SL Christmas Expo, a Relay for Life event, where many wonderful desingers team up with a goal. This year we aim to gather 4 million L$ for funding cancer research!

For the event, there are three exclusive RFL releases. All the proceedings going straight towards American Cancer Society, working worldwide to find a cure to every type of cancer.

The Christmas Cut outs are special decorative items to bring some fun in your property, whether it is a small cottage, or a forest. They come with a pose animation, perfect for settiing up some very peculiar photoshoot sessions.

Christmas is about those around us, and the beautiful moment we share together, be it while sitting by the fireplace or through a Zoom call. For this reason I've decided to create the Happy Memory Frame, a memento to celebrate the warmth of our dear ones.

Each frame is customizable, and the built in shadow will allow you to maintain a realistic vignetting effect to every picture.

 Hello everyone!

As the second wave of this Covid pandemic has reached and affected most of us, we are now back in a situation that is similar to what we endured at the beginning of 2020.

Many of us are forced to stay at home, and remote working has become a common term that we're now used to see over and over.

This quarantine 2.0 will obviously make us rely on online means of entertainment, Second Life being one (and possibly one of the most complete).  Hello everyone,

The Liaison Collaborative Exclusive

 Hello everyone! We're in the Liaison Collaborative for the first time, and I'm so excited to see what I've prepared for this fantastic event!

As this round celebrates the theme of Bonfire Bash, what's better than a...bonfire!

The Camp Bonfire is an interactive set of items that comes in different variations:

The main piece, the bonfire itself has animated fire with sound (that can be toggled on touch), as well as an off fire version, with a constant, slow smoke being emitted from the dying embers. Each version comes in either regular and small size.

To complement the bonfire, there are a series of sitting trunks and stumps, each of them in Single/Multi sit version (stump is single sit, trunk is multi for three people) and Couple (PG) sit option.

Tomb of Ancients: a Lovecraftian Event

Halloween isn't simply about pumpkins and witches.

It's the season to truly appreciate the master work of Lovecraft, and his multi-layered universe of horror.

Finally, we have a Lovecraftian thmed event, the brand new and amazing Tomb of Ancients by Starry Sky Productions. The event takes us back to the origins of the Necronomicon, and the Great Old Ones.

For this event, here's my exclusive!

The Bad Omen Altar is my personal tributo to one of the central figures of Lovecraftain mythos, namely Yog-Sothoth, a deity beyond time and space that cultists would call forth through the darkest of rituals.

This product features skulls of sacrifices in agony, in a magic and ever moving liquid, product of mad scientists and cultists work.

The liquid is animated, and you can watch its preview inworld, where the alatar itself is scaled down to properly fit the event booths!

Swank spooktacular round!

 Spooktober has begun, and every regular event has donned the dark mantle of the Halloween season.

For this round of Swank, I've prepared something in line with the theme

The Old Metal Fencing is a modular set made of Kool Door gate, fences (with straight and curved lines) as well as lamp posts.

But it's not that simple: Each piece comes in three texture variants (regular, mossy and bloody) and the lamp posts also have two different candle flame colour (standard and spooky green) and shapes (regular and bent).

That time of the year has finally arrived: Halloween is approaching!

For us at Harshlands can only mean one thing: our traditional region hunt!

 September marks SaNaRae traditional anniversary round, and with a lot of excitement comes a bit of sadness, as this will be its final round, before its permanent departure.

SaNaRae is a work of love produced by one single person, Mewz Artis, who always poured heart and soul to ensure that both visitors and designers had the most pleasant experience. I am honoured of beig part of this!

Enchantment open its gates to the Sleeping Beauty

 Whenever Enchantment opens, everyone is welcomed in a wonderful world of tales and beautiful stories.

This month is dedicated to the Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent, a story that took on so many different shapes and variations, but still providing us with wonderful emotions.

For this round I have prepared something inspired by the latest films

The Moors Rocks are a fairly big set of rocks and monoliths. They come as single scenery (not joined items, but as single and shadowmapped product) or as single and separate items (2 monoliths and one platform). And given the theme, they also feature two texture variations: Aurora, which is flowery and full of life, and Maleficent, giving the feeling of a dead land with scorched ground.

What's the point of having the Moors without a proper throne fit for a Queen? The Moors Throne is the second exclusive, presenting the two variations I've previously introduced: Aurora's version is a throne in bloom, with animated branches, whereas Maleficent's throne is a monstrous entanglement of dead branches. Both thrones come with single and couple (PG) animations.

But this isn't over!

As usual, the traditional Enchantment Hunt is on, and starting from the main event region, you can travel across lands to win fantastic prizes. For this round, this is our prize

The Tomb Blooms are said to grow wherever a fairyfolk passes on. They don't have graves to remember them by, but glowing flowers that spontaneously appear. You can get this prize for free, but you have to find it, well hidden in Harshlands mainstore!

The Japanese Stone Lanterns are low prim decorations, coming in three different texture variations, to properly fit your land. With a small flame, ignited by an oiled rope, these stone lanterns will be the perfect addition to your gardens, outdoor landscape, and sacred places.

Swank: a celebration of colours!

Hello everyone,

first of all, sorry for the late notice, as Swank is already open since some days.

I had to deal with RL moving, between two houses separated by 200km. All of this, happening withour a proper internet connection, so, I was unable to keep track of everything.

The Paint Buckets are one of the most iconic and immediate references to colour. They're the source of art, and they can convey so many messages. These special buckets come in three different shapes and multiple colours. In addition to that, a melted paint groun is included in the pack.

The final Guardian is awake!

Summer is starting to approach, and so, the last of the Guardians has opened her eyes, and is ready to reveal herself to the world.

The Summer Guardian features two different bark textures, a cleaner one, and a more timeworn choice (similar to the other Guardians). It also comes with multiple textured flowers that you can place wherever you prefer.

Godspeed Cer

I'm normally used to daily news, especially during these weeks of pandemic outbreak.

But I wasn't prepared for this.

Cer (Cerdwin Flanagan) has passed on.
She was so full of life and love, and there was no sign of any problem with her. Only recently she announced taking a small break due to not feeling well.
That was the last time I heard from her.

Cer was one of those unique souls that always tried to bring out the best out of people. She did that with many. She did that with me. I feel like having the same rez day was a sign.
I know she liked my creations, and I felt so honoured about that, but she pushed that on to a new level, by including them in what is now Witch Woods, one of the most beautifully crafted regions, where every single object has a story and a purpose.
It is a sanctuary for many. And that reflects Cer's heart.

She always prioritized the sense of community, and always made sure that everyone felt welcome and important. Her creative mind was the silver thread through which she summoned her magic. Because she was a witch, the good kind. Everyone who met her was enthralled by her charisma and her profound spirit.

If Second Life is a better place, it is thanks to people like her.

Her last legacy are the wonderful and memorable moments of gathering during Fantasy Faire, what we began to call Covfefe Breaks.
For many people, Fantasy Faire 2020 was hard, because of Covid outbreak, and there wasn't a reason to celebrate. Cer gave us a purpose, and made us ignite the spark of inspiration, that will now forever be set ablaze for her.

There will be no funeral pyre in my heart.
I want to hold on tight all the happy moments and memories we built and shared, squeeze them at a point to lose my breath, and find in them the light.

There is a beautiful metaphor of death in a poem by Herny Van Dyke.
When someone we care about passes away, they set sail on a ship, moved by the morning breeze, towards the horizon.
As she goes on, on the blue surface of the ocean, she appears to become smaller to our eyes. We have the feeling she became smaller, but she's still the same.
And when at some point this ship will reach the horizion, she will look like just one small dot amidst the sky, making us say "there, she is gone".
But at the same time there will be other eyes watching her, from another shore, shouting with joy "Here she comes!".

Cer loved to find beauty in everything, and we have been lucky and privileged to have shared part of our time on earth with her.
I am sure that she must have found her daily inspirational theme: ships!
I believe that she jumped on her viking ship, ready for a new adventure. And as we're mourning her, someone will be blessed with her talent, on another silver shore.
Someone will be welcoming her.
"Here she comes!"

I will never forget you my friend.
You will be missed.

The Gates of Enchantment are open

May means Enchantment!
And this round is particularly dear to me.

May will be the month of the Kitsune, the mythical fox spirit of the Shinto folklore. I've always longed for a round dedicated to ancient Japanese lore, and this was the perfect occasion to release some special exclusives!

The Inari Torii functioned as gates to link the material world with the spiritual one, so that humans could bond with the Kami, the Japanese deities. These Torii gates are dedicated to Inarii, kami of fertility, rice, tea, sake and agriculture. Inari is also the kami of foxes.

These gates come in three variations: wood, rocky and ruined, and all of them with the option of having engravings or not.

Since the round is about kitsune, there you are your own Spirit Foxes! They're animesh pets to be rezzed in your land. They come in two coat variations, and three animations: idle, sitting and feeding.

But this isn't over!

As tradition, it will soon begin the amazing Enchantment hunt! Every designer has a prize hidden in their store region. Harshlands prize will be a personal Spirit Fox attachment pet!

Swank May Round: Boho Chic

Harshlands goes Boho this month!

That sounds like an unusual turn for us, isn't?
Swank opens again for its May round, and for this month theme, I've decided to prepare a set inspired by the beautiful beach Boho weddings.

The Boho Wedding Set is made of several parts that can be purchased separately, or as fatpack.

The Boho Altar comes with a Texture HUD, with the choice to change the wood structure and carpet colour/pattern, 5 different choices each part.

The Boho Bench features the same type of colours of the Altar. It comes in two versions, with couple (pg) poses + multisit, and a multisit version only (in case you're planning to host a ceremony and you don't want random group hugs...)

Next of the set are Boho Lanterns, featuring multiple wood paint colours and a soft light emission.

The Petal Ground is the last touch of detail of the set. A wedding cannot be one without flowers! These mesh grounds come with many different colours and three shapes: a straight line, a small and large group.
